Ingredients
  

Dough
  • Sourdough starter — 1 cup
  • Bread flour — 3 cups
  • Warm water — 1 cup
  • Olive oil — 1 tablespoon
  • Salt — 1 teaspoon
Boiling solution
  • Water — 6 cups
  • Baking soda — 2 tablespoons
Topping
  • Coarse salt — 2 teaspoons

Method
 

  1. Add sourdough starter and warm water to mixing bowl.
  2. Stir flour, olive oil, and salt into mixture.
  3. Mix until dough forms.
  4. Knead dough for 6 minutes until smooth.
  5. Cover dough and let rise until slightly puffy.
  6. Divide dough into 8 pieces.
  7. Roll each piece into long rope and twist into pretzel shape.
  8. Boil water with baking soda in large pot.
  9. Dip pretzels into boiling solution for 20 seconds.
  10. Place pretzels on lined baking tray.
  11. Sprinkle coarse salt on top.
  12. Bake at 425°F for 15 minutes.
